Canteen Stores Department, Bangladesh (CSD Bangladesh) is a retail-chain and service organisation operated under the aegis of the Bangladesh Army and the Ministry of Defence (Bangladesh). Its roots date back to the era of the British Indian Army’s canteen system — originally the “Army Canteen Board”, then the “Canteen Contractors Syndicate Ltd.” in the 1920s-40s, before evolving with independence and restructuring into the current CSD in Bangladesh.
